DRIVING DIRECTIONS
The Coast Road Directions via Jaco, Quepos, & Dominical.
Take the Pan-American Hwy (CA1) west past the International Airport to
the turnoff for Atenas. Atenas is 42 km, (26 miles) west of San Jose. Turn
left (south) and drive through Atenas to Orotina. Orotina is 24 km (15
miles) southwest of Atenas.
The coastal highway heads southeast from Orotina through Tarcoles, Jaco, Hermosa,
and Quepos,
and is well marked with road signs. When you pass the exit for Quepos, keep
going straight and you'll come to a 42 km stretch of dirt road heading south
to Dominical.
When you reach Dominical the road is paved, and you are 3 1/2 hours from
Pt. Jimenez.
Continue down the coast highway south to Chacarita. There is a gas station
on the corner and a sign for Pt. Jimenez. Turn right. The road is paved to
Rincon (42 km) south of Chacarita.
At La Palma, turn left for Pt. Jimenez and continue on only 1/2 half hour from
there. The road leads you right into Pt. Jimenez.
When you get to Jimenez take a right by the soccer field down than a short
left then right onto our Main Street where our office is located 2 blocks down
on the left upstairs of the pharmacy and liquor store 2 nd floor Office Oro
Verde #4.
Pan Am Hwy south over the mountain directions
From
San Jose take 2 nd ave (avenida Segundo) to San Pedro and follow the signs
to Cartago where you will see a sign heading south to Panama, San Isidro
etc this road is now the Pan-American Hwy. Take this road which will take
you over the mountain road south. After reaching the bottom on the other
side you will be in San Isidro.
Continue on south through the Pineapple
capital of the country (try the ice cold slices sold on the side of the road)
this town is Buenos Aires. Continue south for aprox 2 hours more till you
get to the town of Chacarita where there is a Servi-Centro gas station and
turn right.
This road will take you to Puerto Jimenez in just under 2 hours;
you will be in the mountains for 1 hour Caution: There are some large pot
holes in the pavement that can blow out your tires. After leaving the pavement
on to a gravel road it will take 1 final hour more to Puerto Jimenez. When
you get to Jimenez take a right by the soccer field down than a short left
then right onto our Main Street where our office is located 2 blocks down
on the left upstairs of the pharmacy and liquor store 2 nd floor Office
Oro Verde #4.
